FAQ: 15-Year Owner Leak Warranty
For Fire Protection Contractors
- Are you asking me to guarantee the system for 15 years?
Our 15-year warranty is a manufacturer warranty on our pipe, not on your workmanship or the entire system.
- We warrant our clean-interior steel pipe against qualifying through-wall leaks caused by internal corrosion (including MIC) in wet systems.
- You remain responsible for installation and NFPA 25 / WPNI maintenance, just like on any quality project.
- If there is a leak, who does the repair and who pays?
The repair is done by you.
For each qualifying leak, we will, at no charge:
- supply one (1) standard length of replacement pipe of the same or equivalent specification; and
- as a labor allowance, pay or credit you an amount equal to the list price of two (2) standard lengths of pipe of the same specification.
The value of the pipe and allowance counts toward the project caps in the warranty.
You stay in control of the repair; we help cover material + labor under agreed terms.
- Will you just deny claims on a paperwork technicality?
Our intent is to treat you as a partner, not to hide behind paperwork.
- The warranty is conditional on the system being kept within the program (NFPA 13, NFPA 25, WPNI with O₂ ≤ 2%, etc.).
- We provide simple templates for O₂ checks and re-inerting logs.
- We look at whether the system has been reasonably maintained, not at minor clerical mistakes.
We can't pay for situations where the program clearly wasn't followed, but we are not in the business of using small paperwork gaps as an excuse.
- Does this kill my maintenance revenue?
No – it shifts it from emergency leak repair to planned service.
The owner's warranty is conditional on:
- NFPA 25 inspections, testing, and maintenance; and
- oxygen / nitrogen control (annual O₂ spot checks and re-inerting after major water additions).
All of this must be performed and documented by you.
You keep and grow recurring revenue from NFPA 25 and WPNI service. The warranty becomes a reason for the owner to stay on a proper service contract, not a substitute for it.
- Will this hurt my margins because the 15-year cost is lower?
Our goal is to help you increase your margins, not compress them.Because MIC-related leaks in our pipe are largely taken off the table, owners typically see ~30% lower 15-year total cost versus traditional black pipe. That allows you to:
- Price new installs with healthier margins, justified by the third-party backed, owner-facing 15-year leak warranty and lower risk; and
- Build stable, contract-based service revenue from the NFPA 25 and oxygen/nitrogen work the warranty depends on.
You're moving from unpredictable, low-joy leak repairs to a mix of higher-margin installs and predictable service.
- Are you going to give my competitor the same program?
We don't grant permanent exclusivity, but we do protect your effort:
- Deal registration: register a project and we won't quote the same scope to others for a defined window (e.g. 90–180 days) while you're actively working it. We do not use territory preference / right-of-first-refusal. Fairness is project-based.
To prevent deal squatting, we may request reasonable proof of active pursuit, and registrations with no measurable progress may be released.
To prevent hoarding, each Authorized Contractor may hold up to three (3) active Deal Registrations at a time. Provisional Authorized Contractors start with one (1) active slot during onboarding; additional slots may be granted based on performance and project track record.
This is an authorized contractor program, not a franchise. No franchise fees.
- Are you competing with my service department?
No. We do not sell or service nitrogen systems. We do not perform NFPA 25 ITM.
Our role:
- Manufacture clean-interior UL & cUL steel pipe
- Define and support the corrosion-prevention program
- Review submittals, receive acceptance documentation
- Issue the third-party backed 15-year owner leak warranty on our pipe
Your role:
- Design, install, and commission systems
- Perform NFPA 25 and WPNI service
- Maintain the long-term relationship with the owner
We give you a stronger story to win projects and long-term service – we don't take that work away from you.
- Can I buy your pipe without joining the Authorized Contractor Program?
Yes. Any contractor may purchase our UL & cUL listed clean-interior steel pipe under Open Purchase. Open Purchase is intended for trials, emergency replacement/service, and inventory stocking; 15-year total-cost predictability applies to Registered Projects only. Note: Deal Registration (bid protection) is available to Authorized Contractors only.
- Does Open Purchase include the owner-facing 15-year leak warranty?
No. The owner-facing 15-year limited internal leak warranty is issued only for Registered Projects that meet the program requirements and submit the acceptance documentation.
- What does a Registered Project require?
In short: NFPA 13 install + O₂ ≤ 2% WPNI acceptance logs + NFPA 13 high-point air venting + a documented NFPA 25 / oxygen log framework (annual O₂ spot checks + re-inert after major water additions/modifications) + Debris-Free Easy Installation.
- Can Open Purchase be upgraded to a Registered Project?
Yes—Open Purchase can be upgraded only before commissioning/handover, provided the materials are traceable to the project and the registered scope. The owner-facing 15-year leak warranty certificate is issued only after the full acceptance documentation package is approved, and the 15-year term runs from handover. We do not backdate warranty.
- What if the project/scope is already Deal Registered by another contractor?
If a scope is actively Deal Registered, we do not approve a second registration for the same scope. Options are: (1) the registrant assigns the registration in writing, (2) register a clearly separated scope/zone, or (3) the registration is released under our inactivity/no-progress rule. Deal Registration protection starts upon approval and is not retroactive.
